Translating into another language implies more than simply replacing source terms with the ones belonging to the target language, which frequently happens when the only interest is to just make

It is fundamental that the translation work be carried out by a team of professionals, in which each one has a specific role according to their peculiar competence. This is reflected in a process of synergic interaction between the different phases of the process

something understood, even though this often renders a translation incomprehensible. A well-made translation requires a thought-out choice of the terminology used in each specific context and of the most proper expressive forms.

A quality translation, however, goes beyond that. A quality translation aims at getting readers to believe that the text they are reading was created in their own language, not noticing that it is a translated text. In fact, this is a common fault of most translated works.  In order to be successful in such a demanding goal, it is necessary to completely understand the matter dealt with in the source text, and to be aware of the reader’s reaction, arising from all cultural differences peculiar to communities using different languages. Therefore, it is fundamental that the translation work be carried out by a team of professionals, in which each one has a specific role according to their peculiar competence.

A quality translation aims at getting readers to believe that the text they are reading was created in their own language, not noticing that it is a translated text

This is reflected in a process of synergic interaction between the different phases of the process: the phase when professional translators begin to transform the source text; the one in which bilingual experts in the field intervene; and the final phase, when mother-tongue proofreaders review the text in the target language.
